Vancouver is awesome. Are you on budget, yet you still want to explore the city’s gems? There are so many free things to do in Vancouver and many free guided things to do! With the summer quickly approaching, your only job will be to choose from a variety of expert-designed self-guided walking tours and explore Vancouver on foot. At your own pace.

LOOSE YOURSELF WITHOUT GETTING LOST

GPS My City offers over 20 self-guided walking tours and you can even design your own tour to visit the top attractions on your list!

How it works: download the app "GPSmyCity: Walks in 1K+ Cities" from iTunes App Store or Google Play to your mobile phone. Every walk comes with a detailed tour map, photos and background information for the featured attractions. The app's navigation functions guide you from one attraction to the next. The app works offline, so you don’t need any data plan.

TAKE YOURSELF ON A TOUR OF HISTORIC VANCOUVER NEIGHBOURHOODS

Vancouver Heritage Foundation has created a number of map guides which explore Vancouver’s distinct historic neighbourhoods. Physical copies of the map guides are available at the VHF Main Office located at Suite 402 - 510 West Hastings St.

THE LEGENDS OF VANCOUVER

E. Pauline Johnson (Takehionwake) was a little girl of a Mohawk Chief and a white mother. She was a standout amongst Canada's most well known indigenous lobbyist of the Victorian time. Pauline Johnson documented legends, told to her by her companion, Squamish Chief Joe Capilano, in a book, 'Legends of Vancouver', in print now for more than 100 years.?This Vancouver walking guide, visits some of the sites of those legends of those legends; places like The Two Sisters, Siwash Rock and Deadman's Island.
